Gallery Entry - 'Sybille' - David Coster

I purchased Sybille or as she was originally named Supreme Safari in June 2003. She had been up for sale for over a year in Stalham through JULIES BOAT SALES in Norwich. A broker that I can not recommend enough, she was very helpful and a pleasure doing business with.

It was going to be quite a journey as my moorings are in Geldeston, a fair distance from Stalham. What with having a strange boat which had not been used for over a year, the last thing I wanted was any problems along the way. Particularly when I had to go through Great Yarmouth and Breydon. She was no trouble at all. Having left Stalham Saturday morning I had moored at Burgh St Peter by the Saturday evening and was back in Geldeston by Sunday afternoon.

There has not been any problems so far except for the alternator which failed and needed to be repaired. Apparently there was not any reconditioned ones around at the time.

I have done over 200 hours cruising on her since I've had her. The engine is a Thornycroft 1500 with hydraulic drive which is fitted with a water muffler in the exhaust. This makes quite a reduction in the noise. I see the Broads Authority are now giving out grants to them fitted, which has to be a good incentive.

Not much has changed on the inside except a modern electric flush toilet has been installed and I have fitted a Vetus remote weed strainer. Where I moor there are lots of loose weeds and the traditional filter kept getting blocked up.
